How Much Is a Gram of Weed?

A gram of weed is, well, a gram. It’s about the size of a grape, and it’s good for packing a bowl or rolling up a decent-sized joint or two small joints. You don’t typically buy just a gram of weed, but sometimes that’s all you need!

How Much Is an Eighth of Weed?

An eighth of weed is the most common weight when learning how to measure weed. It’s how many people buy and sell because it’s the perfect amount to get to know a strain and share it with your friends. So, how many grams are in an eighth? An eighth weighs 3.5 grams and can easily be rolled into several small joints, like our Palitos.

How Much Is a Quarter of Weed?

A quarter is short for a quarter ounce. How many grams are in a quarter? It’s two eighths and weighs 7 grams. This is a decent amount of weed, and you can buy bags or jars of quarter ounces in many dispensaries. You can roll up plenty of joints or bowls with a quarter.

How Much Is a Half Ounce of Weed?

A half ounce of weed is twice as much as a quarter or four times as much as an eighth. It weighs 14 grams. Prices start to look a bit better here since this is considered to be a large purchase quantity at this point.

How Much Is an Ounce of Weed?

An ounce of weed weighs 28 grams. An ounce of weed is where you really see savings. In most legal states, an ounce is the most you can buy in a day, so dispensaries offer deals on this weight. If you work as a budtender, weight out an ounce is an important part of learning how to measure weed. If you can eyeball it, even better.

How Much Is a Quarter Pound of Weed?

A quarter pound of weed is equal to 4 ounces. If one ounce weighs 28 grams, then a quarter pound weighs 112.5 grams. This is more than you can buy in a day from dispensaries, so it’s unlikely that a budtender will be weighing this up for you. However, if you were snagging a sack from a friend, they’d probably round up and offer you 113 grams.

How Much Is a Half Pound of Weed?

Are you getting good at quick math by now?! A half pound of weed is equal to two quarter pounds, or 8 ounces. Eight ounces of weed weighs 225 grams. A half-pound is a long-lasting supply for most tokers, so be sure to store it properly to ensure those terpenes and cannabinoids hold up over time.

How Much Is a Pound of Weed?

Technically, a pound of weed weighs 453.59237 grams, or 16 ounces. Some people choose to set the scale at 453 grams, but more commonly, industry standards have evolved just to call it a pound at 450 grams. At 450 grams, you can divide backward to get all of the above-mentioned weights.

Weed Weight Slang

Certainly, those aren’t all of the ways to order up a bag of weed! So, here’s some common weed-weight slang you may have heard.

How Much Is a Dub of Weed?

A ‘dub’ doesn’t actually refer to a weed weight at all, but a price. If you wanted to buy a dub of weed, you’d spend $20. Twenty dollars’ worth of weed looks different everywhere, but it’s about two grams. However, in some parts of the country, stones insist that a dub means exactly two grams, and it’s the price that varies. So, apparently, a dub can be $20 or two grams or both!

How Much Is a Dime Bag of Weed?

A dime bag is very similar to a dub, but cut in half. Some people say that a dime bag is $10 worth of weed, and others say a dime bag is 1 gram. Again, it could be either, or it could be both. One gram for $10 seems a little steep for some states, but it’s a steal in others.

How Much Is a Zip of Weed?

A zip is slang for an ounce. You can also refer to an ounce as simply an ‘O’ but zip is more common. The term came about because you can fit most ounces of weed into a Ziploc bag.

How Much Is a QP of Weed?

QP is short for a quarter pound of weed. It’s what you might say if you were trying to keep it hush-hush or use shorthand. Sometimes QP is also called a ‘quap.’

How Much Is an Elbow of Weed?

An elbow is one pound of weed. Elbow comes from the abbreviation ‘lb’ and mixes phonetic sounds to create ‘el-b’ which somehow became elbow. It’s also called a ‘bow’ or just an ‘L’. Some people prefer ‘pack’ as slang for a pound, but usually when talking about multiple pounds like a five pack, ten pack, etc.
